Guiding Light Services
Illuminating the path from high school to college persistence
A college education is one of the largest investments your family will ever make. I want to make sure that the required attention is on your student’s success, whether that be with receiving scholarships with acceptances and/or with setting them up for a solid start in their next academic chapter.
The "Admissions Advantage" Package
(Junior Year through May 1st Senior Year)
Best For: Families who feel confident in their student’s ability to "hit the ground running" once the dorm rug is bought.
The Focus: Strategy, Selection, and Success
Investment Starting at $5,000
What’s Included:
-
Illuminating the Options: From my many visits to colleges around the country, I will assist students in designing a suitable list of colleges tailored to their interests, abilities and needs. This will be accomplished by reviewing their academic and extra curricular interests, guiding them through researching websites and curriculum, and evaluating their campus visits with them.
-
Focusing the Lens: I will provide essay coaching and assistance in identifying their strengths. This includes assistance in completing the Common Application effectively, selecting their references, discussing SAT/ACT needs and sharing Financial Aid Deadline information. It may also include providing assistance and consideration of students’ special needs (if applicable). With my help, each student will create a successful process while accomplishing these tasks, including worksheets, checklists and a solid timeline for each part of the process.
The "Freshman Success" Package
(Junior Year through December Freshman First Semester)
Best For: Families wanting to protect their investment and ensure that their student doesn't just "get in," but stays in.
The Focus: The Full Transition & Persistence Model
Investment Starting at $7,500
What’s Included:
-
All the Light from Above: College List & Essay Coaching, Common App & Deadline Management, & Final Decision Analysis
-
Providing a Lighted Pathway: Navigating "Summer Melt," orientation prep, health/housing bureaucracy, accomodation and academic needs (course selection, academic success, any additional support navigation), monthly check-ins during the first semester to discuss managing time, stress, and academic adjustments
-
Keeping the Beacon Steady: I will be the steady light that keeps students on track when the high school support fades away. For students transitioning from highly supportive therapeutic environments, the shift to a large campus can feel like a loss of scaffolding; my goal is to help your student build a new, sustainable support structure alongside them.
-
Chasing Away the Darkness: Ensuring that students in need of any type of accommodations are properly connected to campus resources before they need them.
